Core Disciplines
Three Pillars of Materials Testing
Quality Metallurgical Lab provides comprehensive testing across chemical, mechanical, and microstructural disciplines — from a single laboratory, with traceable results.
Chemical Analysis
Optical Emission Spectrometry
Elemental composition of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. OES analysis for mild steel, stainless, cast iron, copper, aluminium, zinc, and nickel base materials.
Mechanical Testing
Strength, Hardness & Impact
Tensile, yield, bend, shear, compression, torque, proof load, impact (Charpy/Izod), hardness (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, Micro Vickers), and salt spray testing.
Metallurgical Analysis
Microscopy & Macroscopy
Optical microscopy at 50x–1000x. Inclusion rating, case depth (ECD/TCD), SG cast iron, coating thickness, porosity, phase identification, grain flow, and weld analysis.
Chemical Analysis
Optical Emission Spectrometry (OES)
Full quantitative elemental analysis of metallic alloys in under a minute. OES is the industry standard for grade verification, positive material identification (PMI), and incoming quality control. We cover both ferrous and non-ferrous base matrices.
Elements analysed: Fe, C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Mo, Ni, Cu, Al, V, Ti, Nb, Co, Sn, Pb, Zn, Mg, W, B, N and more.

Metallurgical Analysis
Metallurgical Microscopy & Macroscopy
Optical microscopy from 50× to 1000× reveals microstructural features invisible to the naked eye — grain size, phase distribution, inclusions, surface coatings, and case depths. Macroscopy at 4×–50× examines grain flow, weld structure, and macrodefects.
- Optical microscopy: 50× to 1000×
- Inclusion rating — ASTM E45 / ISO 4967
- Case depth analysis (ECD, TCD)
- SG cast iron verification
- Coating thickness measurement
- Phase identification
- Macroscopy 4×–50×: grain flow, weld, macrostructure
